GV3 Coaching
My name is Grady Vigneau, and I am a multi-disciplined coach and competitive cyclist. I am currently a TrainingPeaks Level 2 Certified Coach and a USA Cycling Level 3 Certified Coach. I have been mountain biking since childhood, and picked up cyclocross, gravel, and road along the way (and in that order!). I prefer a goal-oriented approach to training, with a program building the foundation and working towards those goals. This includes periodizing training and using the individual workouts in each phase to build towards these goals. Power meters are not required, but encouraged.
I have been a competitive athlete in a variety of sports through the years, from childhood soccer, to prep/junior hockey and football, to college baseball. I have always included cycling as a part of my competitive nature and cross training. I have also been a hockey, baseball, and weight lifting coach through the years. More recently I have focused on cycling, bringing a well-rounded approach to the road, cyclocross, gravel, and mountain biking disciplines.
My history with baseball, having worked as a coach at Hamilton College and Bates College as well as in advanced scouting and player development for the Kansas City Royals and Washington Nationals of MLB, has helped me develop an analytical approach to coaching. I like to use past and present numbers to help guide athletes forward towards their goals. These goals can be power-oriented, event-oriented, or simply personal progression and improvement.
I have also coached these various sports at levels from youth through professional athletes. This allows me to provide coaching at various levels depending on the athletes needs and desires. Do you ride at a beginner to intermediate level, but prefer a more professional approach to training? No problem! Have you been training at a professional level, but want a more recreational style to step back and enjoy riding your bike while continuing to improve your fitness? Great!
I look forward to connecting with you, wherever you are, along your cycling journey.
